The summer heat takes its toll on all of us, our four-legged friends included. That’s why the acclaimed chef Gemma Stafford, who shares incredible recipes for humans and dogs alike on both her blog and YouTube account, has now revealed some delicious recipes for pet-friendly homemade ice cream.
All of the ingredients used for these recipes are not only safe for pets to indulge in, but also provide health benefits for them (if used in moderation, of course). For example, in the recipe below, the Vitamin H found in peanut butter aids your dog’s fur coat as it helps makes it shinier and healthier.
Chef Stafford included three distinct recipes catering for every dog’s taste, including a strawberry and banana, oatmeal and cinnamon, and peanut butter and jelly. Take a look below to see how to make the peanut butter and jelly delicious ice cream for your furry best friend:
Peanut Butter & Jelly Ice Cream For Dogs
1 ripe banana
10 pureed strawberries
1 cup of low fat, natural plain yogurt
1/2 cup of smooth, unsweetened and natural peanut butter
1. Mash the banana well with a fork until smooth and no lumps. Stir in the peanut butter, followed by the yogurt.
2. Mix all ingredients until well-combined.
3. Puree or mash the strawberries and gently fold them into the peanut butter mix to create a swirl.
4. Pour the mixture into freezer safe air-tight containers and then freeze for a minimum of 4 hours but preferably overnight.
