Some dogs bark more often, and at more objects, than others. No matter what, all dogs tend to bark and it can be a nuisance. Luckily, this is behavior that can be corrected very easily.
It’s important to always stay patient and persistent. When a dog is barking, especially non-stop, it’s so easy to get frustrated and either give up or lose it. If you need to calm down, give yourself some space. Get out of the house and go for a walk. Either way, make sure to keep on the training and really be there to help your dog out of this behavior.
Try to release your dog’s pent up energy in more constructive ways. Keep up with the daily walks, and try to add a surprise element that may be unfamiliar to your dog. Go a different route, find inclines, or change the speed of the walk. Another way to keep a dog’s mind busy is by utilizing games and toys that challenge a dog’s brain. Try simple obedience training, or agility training.
These are a few ways to get a barking dog under control and calm him or her down. Try them out if you’re dog loves to bark and let us know how it works.
