Donating and Making Homemade Dog Food

I’m sure for a lot of people, it has been pretty hard to obtain everything that you need or want for your homes right now. It is a tough time and I hope you all are able to get those household necessities.

I also hope that you are able to get everything that you need for your pets. Dogs, cats, whatever pet you might own are going through a rough time too. If you can keep practicing social distancing try to donate to certain places in your neighborhoods that are doing their part to distribute food for both animals or humans.

Also, you can look up those groups on Facebook by going to “community groups” or other similar pages. Please look those places up if you are able to help others too. Everyone can use a bit of help right now and everyone should try to lend a hand if they are able to.

Ok, so I was thinking about how hard it could be some people to purchase dog food right now and what could be some ways to get around going to the store for hours, and maybe save money. I went “surfing” on the internet and found that you can actually “make” dog food at home.

I think this would be better suited for everyone, with everything that’s going on right now. I found a lot of different sites with a lot of different recipes, but (in my own opinion), I thought that Pinterest was the best place to look for recipes.

I liked the site the best because it seemed more “user” oriented and the submissions are shared from person to person, rather than just being surrounded by “ads” and whatnot.

Another thing that caught my eye with Pinterest was the over-whelming suggestions to use foods that are already around the kitchen. I thought you would have to get special kinds of food. This could be helpful because a lot of people are cooking home-cooked meals right now, so why not make for the dog too!

The recipes almost always involve the use of meat and veggies. This is very important for keeping up with the health of dogs. A lot of dog foods don’t have that and could be problematic for dogs. So, you could be making your dog’s “best” meals in more ways than one. I’m sure your puppies will appreciate the food too.

You never know, you could find yourself enjoying doing this for the dog. Plus, you are most likely reassuring yourself of any thoughts (you might have) about what you are feeding your dog. I almost forgot that you can also find recipes for homemade treats your dogs too!

I hope that this information is helpful to all of you, it is a very hard time for our country, so I hope these bits of advice and info can you all.

Lastly, if you are a reader of this blog, but don’t currently own a dog, and always wanted one… Animal shelters across the country are encouraging people to adopt. While they are always encouraging adoption. Right now, there might be people who are lonely and could be depressed from being in the house all the time. Think about getting a dog, if you are in the right position and ready to adopt, then if you truly believe that you are ready for a dog to quarantine with (and would still want it after the quarantine) please get one!

Until next time!
